Japanese days of the week , 月火水木金土日

The Japanese days of the week starts with Monday. It is denoted as 月火水木金土日 also.
月kanji has several reading`s in Japanese like GETSU,GATSU,tsuki and means moon or month. Hence Monday is made of two parts getsu(月) and youbi (曜日) which means day, resulting in 月曜日Monday. Similarly
火 ie KA means fire.
水 ie SUI means water
木 ie MOKU means tree/wood.
金 ie KIN means gold
土 ie DO means earth or soil.
日 ie NICHI means day or sun.
The combination of the above with youbi results in the corresponding days of the week.
